Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she was a kid, she went to the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was only six when she made the decision to pursue a career as an actress. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she studied acting and singing. From the age of 10, she took part as the lead in several Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was identified by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first appearance in a film was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It also was the most successful film during 2001. The opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. Critics have praised both the film as well as the performances by the three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her exceptional performance. Then Emma was nominated for five prizes for her work in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in the Feature Film.
